Inspiration Behind the Conference

The Conference was birthed into existence after reviewing the number of African Americans serving in leadership positions in government, electorial office, education, non-profit corporations, private corporations, and innovative entrepreurial efforts.

Additionally, the realization of a brain-drain of the best and brightest African Americans relocating outside the Quad Cities for continued development, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.

Finally, after traveling extensively outside the United States, realizing need for the sharing of ideas and strategy across culture and geographical boundaries is vital to moving distressed communities to a place of sufficiency and sustainability.

We are Intentional

  • The conference takes on a hybrid value chain approach; exercising three intentional commitments (intergenerational, interdisciplinary, and intercultural).
  • We boldly bring together practitioners and scholars from education, business, non-profits, government, and sociology to confront the major challenges of the day and promote global problem-solving and multi-generational solutions.

Intergenerational

We believe that the best ideas and solutions are generated across generations. We intentionally bring together Millennials, Generation X’ers, and Baby Boomers to solve the world’s problem.

Interdisciplinary

We believe that leaders are a part of every ethnicity, race, gender, religion, and socio-economic background.  We intentionally recruit emerging leaders from underrepresented populations.

Intercultural

We believe that solutions to our most difficult challenges must emerge from the best minds.  We intentionally merge the disciplines of education, corporate, entrepreneurship, non-profit sector, government, health care, and faith community for problem solving.
